Nowadays it’s very common to use the word detoxification. But what does detoxification refer to? In medical terms, detoxification refers to the natural removal of toxins from the body.

We know that the liver, kidney, intestines are the ones that remove toxic elements from our body. So now the real question is why do we need additional detoxification?

The answer to this question is that in today’s world we are exposed to many chemicals; whether it’s our food, the air we inhale, cleaning material or cosmetics, etc. Some of these elements are very harmful and can cause a lot of damage to our bodies.

Now let’s talk a little about Dopamine. Dopamine works as a neurotransmitter in the brain. It’s released when our brain gains a reward. Dopamine is strongly attached to pleasure and reward. It could be your favorite food, sex, shopping, or anything that you like or love.

Today dopamine detox is the talk of the town. It’s a detox specifically for your brain.

The most important thing in this procedure is to avoid engaging in activities that we enjoy. Example- using phone, listening to music, playing games, eating your favorite food, cooking what you like, etc.

The main idea of this detox is to devoid the brain of any pleasurable activity. So that in the end even any other boring activity ultimately will become fun.

We don’t need to follow the dopamine detox on a larger scale but a smaller scale. That is for example one day every week, we should give up the activities that are pleasurable to us or increase dopamine. Through this way, our brain can focus on activities that urgently need to be attended to.

Well, now the question is does dopamine detox work, or is it nothing but a hoax?

Dopamine Detox or Fasts is not a hoax. It works to a certain extent. It helps us reduce the time we waste on social media, playing online games, using phones, and listening to music for a longer period in high volume.

Screens and digital gadgets are the elements that increase the dopamine in our bodies. So dopamine detox or fasts can truly help our body to recover and attain peace.
